As it does, time has been moving quickly for me and my crew. We’ve been grateful for having several occasions to celebrate: mothers and fathers in our lives and our pasts, school graduations, and the wedding of a friend. These events draw my attention towards reflection, and I can’t help but consider what these celebrations look and feel like in the throes or aftermath of a divorce or custody issue.
I’m consistently drawn to the same conclusion - that the chances of enjoying such events and allowing the energy to be on the rightful recipients would only inflate in the context of a collaborative action. The style of conflict resolution suited to a collaborative action leaves a much greater chance for long term accord and respect. Well beyond the actual case, parties will likely be entangled in each other’s lives. I hope that my clients’ will be able to enjoy many years of celebrations, and that their choice of a collaborative divorce or custody will better enable them to do so.
